Kitchen spices are very handy and show a lot of healing properties. These spices stimulate appetite and aid in digestion. Regular use of spices helps in balancing doshas.

1. Mustard Seeds:
Rasa – Pungent, Virya – Heating, Vipäka – Pungent, Guna – Light, Dry,
Dosha – KV- P+, Dhätu – All Dhatus
Ayurvedic Action – Dipana (Increases Appetite), Krimi Näshaka (Destroys Krimi), Agni Vardhana (Increases Agni), Anuloma (Apäna Vata – Downward Flow)
2. Hing: Asefoetida
Rasa – Pungent, Virya–Heating, Vipäka-Pungent, Guìa – Heavy, Penetrating Dosha – VK- P+
Dhätu- Rasa, Rakta, Mamsa, Asthi, Majja
Ayurvedic Action- Dipana, Pächana (Aids in digestion), Krimi Näshaka, Käsa, Vata Anuloma(Relieves gas)
3. Cumin: Jeera
Rasa – Pungent/bitter, Virya–Cooling, Vipäka-Dry, Guna – Light, Dry
Dosha – VPK= P+ in excess Dhätu- Rasa, Rakta, Mamsa)
Ayurvedic Action – Dipana, Pächana(Apetite stimulant), Vata Anuloma, Shiro Virechana (Clears Head), Medhya (Intellect)

Ayurvedic Action: Dipana, Sugar metabolism, Anemia, Blood Purifier, Promotes menses, destroys poison, helps skin, stops itching, analgesic, anti-inflammatory
5. Ginger (Ardrak):

Dosha, VK-P+, Tridoshic, except given to pitta in small quantity)
